Menopause is the permanent cessation of menstruation, but it is usually diagnosed scientifically only after one year has passed since the cessation of menstruation. The period before menopause and 12 months after it is called perimenopause. The onset of perimenopause is caused by changes in hormone levels in a woman's body that regulate the menstrual cycle. As the body produces less and less estrogen, it increases the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which normally regulates egg development in women.

WHEN TO TEST:

If you are still menstruating: Perform the first test during the first week of your cycle (days 2-7, with day 1 being the first day of your period). If the first test is negative but your symptoms persist, repeat the test a week later.

If you no longer have regular periods: Perform the test at any time during the month and repeat it a week later.

STORAGE AND PRESERVATION

Store sealed in the original packaging in a refrigerator or at room temperature (2–30°C). The expiration date is indicated on the packaging. The test must remain in its original packaging before use. Do not freeze.
