About HIV testing
HIV is the human immunodeficiency virus. Without treatment, it can progressively weaken the immune system and may lead to AIDS, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
HIV infection may have no symptoms, or early infection may cause flu-like symptoms such as fever, fatigue, sore throat, rash, night sweats, or swollen lymph nodes.
Early identification can help people access appropriate medical care sooner. Modern HIV treatment can effectively control the infection in the long term.
INSTI® HIV Self Test is a home screening test for the detection of antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 in capillary blood. A reactive / positive result must always be confirmed by follow-up laboratory testing.
When to consider testing
  • If you want to check your current HIV status discreetly at home.

How the test works
The test is designed to detect antibodies produced by the immune system in response to HIV infection.
  • Collect a drop of blood from the fingertip using the enclosed sterile lancet.
  • Follow the instructions supplied in the kit exactly.
  • Interpret the result according to the appearance of the test control and result dot / area.
  • The built-in procedural control helps verify that the test has run correctly.
Important: A negative result may not rule out a very recent infection because antibodies may not develop immediately after infection. Seek professional medical advice after a recent risk event, if symptoms are present, or if you have any doubts.
Kit contents
The kit is intended for one test and contains:
  • 1 test device / cassette in an individual pouch,
  • 1 sterile single-use blood collection lancet,
  • a pipette with diluent for collection and application of the sample,
  • 1 adhesive plaster,
  • a desiccant,
  • instructions for use in Czech.
