Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are among the most widespread causes of disease in the world and have far-reaching consequences for the health, social and economic spheres in many countries. The incidence of the acute phase of these diseases is on the rise. Gonorrhea is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Neisseria Gonorrhoea and is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. It is transmitted not only through sexual intercourse, but also from mother to newborn. Gonorrhea is treated with antibiotics. However, the problem is the increasing resistance to antibiotic treatment. Chlamydia, caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis, is also one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. It is the main cause of inflammation of the cervix, urethra, endometrium, and pelvic inflammatory disease in women, and inflammation of the conjunctival sac and lungs in newborns. In men, chlamydia infection causes penile discharge, burning during urination, burning or itching around the opening of the urethra, and pain and swelling of one or both testicles (more rarely). If chlamydia infects the rectum, symptoms in both women and men may include pain in this area, discharge, or bleeding.
Diagnostic methods for infection include cell culture, fluorescence, enzyme immunoassay (ELISA), PCR DNA detection, and immunological antibody detection.
